Wake Up To New Trends
In Bedding
Here are some tips to help fashion-conscious consumers keep on the
cutting edge of bedroom fashion.
Color shifts from purple to blue. Purple, which has been an
extremely popular color for the past few years, is being gently
upstaged. While home furnishings may still have a purple feel, the
color itself is retiring. Rather, bold blues are the new
"in" colors for bedding. The color's popularity is linked
to the calming and purifying effect it has on our stressful lives.
Globalization. While the Asian look has been popular for
several years, a new influence is spreading across the globe from
India and Africa. Consumers are having fun using the varied weaves
and colors inspired by the African and Indian cultures. The new
bedroom look strives to create an eclectic and stylish décor.
Indian jewel tones, African spice colors, and other deep shades are
becoming increasingly popular.
Return to Childhood. The hectic pace of everyday life has
inspired bedroom design to move away from unnecessary distractions
toward the simpler life we knew as children. This has caused a
resurgence of softer bedspreads and coverlets. Pre washed fabrics
that give a softer look and feel reminiscent of those our
grandmothers had gracing their bedrooms are increasingly popular.
Tailored. The business pants suit look has transcended the
office. This attitude is also making its way into home furnishings.
The trend is moving from frilly and flowery to tailored and classic.
Smaller scale geometrics, fine plaids and neutral/gray colorations
create a simple yet sophisticated look.
Large Patterns. In keeping with the desire to eliminate
unnecessary clutter from our everyday lives, patterns are becoming
larger and more dramatic. Large-scale designs are dominating many
modern bedrooms.
